Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My second and third grade combination class come from high poverty and low social economic who have a passion, eagerness, and a determination to succeed in learning. In addition, my students come from a first generation immigrant family who come to provide their children with a better education in order for them to be successful in their future. I want to be able to provide my students with additional resources to assist them in furthering their reading and writing skills in order to become readers and writers.
My Project
Scholastic News magazine is a monthly subscription that will assist my students’ English Language Arts. The magazine is not just any ordinary magazine, it provides my students and I with adidtional instruction on important skills such as critical thinking, reading comprehension, text evidence, and other skills. Students enjoy these magazines due to their high interest and engaging current events that are presented in the magazine. In addition, the Scholastic magazine has interesting topics to explore that encourages students to explore in their writing which leads them to focus and improve in their writing skills. The program also comes with an online component to keep my student highly engaged in the content that is being presented. These magazines and program will empower my students with current events occurring throughout the world.
