Our faculty uses all available materials, supports, and creative planning to help our students grow and thrive in an inquiry-based, research-driven, collaborative science classroom that hones their critical thinking skills and teaches them to work together to solve complex problems.
My students are active, inquisitive, hard-working middle school students in an inclusion science classroom. They engage in high-level, hands-on, collaborative science learning in order to develop the essential critical thinking and research skills necessary to thrive not only in the science classroom, but as citizens in an ever-changing society. We support all learners, both with and without disabilities, by providing supports and accommodations determined by their unique individual learning needs. The teaching staff and administration work together to come up with creative and meaningful ways to make certain that all learners do well in our program and receive the education they deserve.
My Project
The requested supplies such as pens, pencils, chart paper, Post-It notes, highlighters, and table supply caddies are necessary to engage my eager middle school science students in collaborative scientific research and investigations.
One of the essential goals in a science classroom must be teaching students to think critically, to understand research, to question, and to interpret data.
This basic science literacy is important not only in the science classroom but in the larger society. The materials in this project, while seemingly just basic office supplies, will enable me to teach my students to analyze research, record data, collaborate with their peers, and share their findings. These supplies are the necessary building blocks of a classroom devoted to critical thinking, collaboration, and active scientific inquiry and investigation.
