This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students come from all over Baltimore City with different backgrounds and experiences. Some students have traveled to different countries while others live in poverty. Many of the students have involved families that are willing to help however possible, and other students are acting as caretakers for their younger siblings. My students love to read and work hard to please. It is our job as educators to give them all the best educational experiences possible and meet their individual needs.
My Project
Third grade is a year of great transition and growth. My students enter the year working on the structure of a paragraph and by the time they leave third grade, they are writing four paragraph research essays! One of the most rewarding times as a teacher is watching my students type their essays, revise, and add graphics. The kids will be so happy if they are able to print their assignments in color and be able to share them at school and at home. Having a color printer in our classroom will have a huge impact on our day to day activities.
