Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are young learners, ranging from four years old about to turn five to young five year olds. My students are learning to sit and listen quietly to a story being read, they are learning to participate respectfully in a group setting, and learning what personal space is all about. The fundamentals of Pre-K are being taught and they are eager to learn.
My students are eager learners that come from many different backgrounds.
They love to be social with one another and are ready to be in school.
Some are read to at home and some learn what being read to is like when they step into my classroom. They have fun personalities and constantly ask questions because of their curiosity of the world around them. They learn the best with hands on creating and learning. My school is a Title 1 school, full of diversity, and located in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
My Project
Art and creativity are essential in Pre-K. My students are learning to form letters, write, and draw to tell stories. They are developing and improving their fine motor skills. The triangle shaped crayons and pencils help in assisting with the proper grip for their little hands and allow them to have better control.
When my students are experimenting with art materials, they are dabbling in science.
When they count pieces and describe the colors they are working with, they are experimenting with math. When they are writing, they are engaged in Language Arts. Most of all, children feel good while they are creating something on their own. This boosts their self-confidence.
