This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

The COVID pandemic has caused stress and uncertainty in my students. We are learning remotely and teachers are using various platforms to give information and teaching across to their students. My students are in foster care and not sure what tomorrow will bring. I want to reassure them that everything will be okay. They are graduating. They have a future ahead and they deserve to strive and reach for success in life.

My Project

I have about 50 students who are in foster care during this pandemic. They have so many unhappy memories and issues yet they are resilient and always looking at the glass half full!

These crayons will be used to bring their illustrations to life!

They love coloring and having their own box of colors will truly make their day. I want them to have something they can call their own and they can take anywhere. Many of my students are academically below grade level but they are trying their best in the situation they are in.

Equity and inclusion is so important no matter who my students are and where they come from. I want them to feel part of a family, my family, where they have someone to lean on.

Color brings life to any dull moment so let's brighten their day!
