This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

The eighth grade GATE class is full of energy and intellectual curiosity. Many of them are already reading at the college level, and all of them expect to be at a university in five years' time.

They are the kind of class that every teacher dreams of, they want to learn, and they have fun doing it.

They help and encourage each other, and they are leaders on our campus. Many are also student athletes.

When a student in our class has a birthday, they all want to recognize it by singing to that student. When one of them wanted to share his ability to do Irish dancing, the whole class clapped along as he danced for the last few minutes of our class.

My Project

My GATE students all want to go to college. I recently worked closely with our librarian to see which of the many titles on the College Board recommended reading list for college-bound students we already had in our library. While we have many, we are still missing quite a few important works of literature.

This project would allow not only my current GATE class access to great literature now, but it would also enrich future students' learning at our school for years to come.

Help me to put the world of great literature in the hands of our students; you can give them the world!
