My school is located in the suburbs of a major city. The school district is large and diverse with the mission of providing a world-class education. My students are in 7th grade and I teach them Life Science in a small group class. They come from varying socio-economic levels with the majority of my students receiving free or reduced price lunch.
My students are an amazing group of diverse learners that are curious about the world around them.
They are continually asking thought-provoking questions about how something works or why something happens. Although I only teach life Science, our class discusses any topic that interests them.
Access to technology for these students is crucial to leveling the playing field between them and their peers.
My students benefit when they have access to quality technology. We are requesting seven Chromebooks that will afford my students the support so that they can research, use study sites, collaborate using google and engage in interactive games.
There are endless possibilities for students to improve their learning experience with the support of a Chromebook.
Some of these include:
-using the Chromebooks to access online testing including having their tests read to them.
-working collaboratively with their classmates in google.
-practicing vocabulary in sites such as Quizlet
- checking their learning in Kahoot as they answer content questions in a game format.
-creating online portfolios in Seesaw and sharing with their parents.
These are just a few of the activities that students will enjoy.
