I am very fortunate to work at a wonderful Montessori school right in the heart of Indianapolis. Dr. Montessori believed that teachers, or guides, should "follow the child." We know that children learn through experiences. Technology, such as IPads, help the children gain these experiences.
As we study Europe, there is so much to know.
Research is a vital part of learning. Each child is researching a different castle in Europe. The children are excited about this; however, we only have a few outdated computers to share. They are doing a wonderful job sharing; however, I would like to add one more form of technology for them to use.
My Project
The children have already chosen a castle to research. Now they need to learn the history of this castle. After they have researched their castle, they will need to present it to the classroom. I would like to offer them a way to share their knowledge through the use of IPads.
Recently I attended a Montessori conference where I learned how versatile and amazing the IPad tablets are.
Technology is so vital in today's world. My hope is to have enough of these devices for my students be able to follow their passions and explore the world, even if it is just from our classroom.
