My Project
Scholastic "Let's Find Out" is an amazing resource and social studies curriculum for Kindergarten. The magazine provides hands-on, engaging, and developmentally appropriate lessons for my young learners using social studies, science, reading, writing, and social-emotional content!
My students want to learn about our world beyond their classroom door.
I teach in a very small, rural district in a Title 1 school. I have many students come to my classroom as a second-language learner and/or no preschool experience; however all students are excited and eager to learn! The topics are so engaging that my students not only learn with each other, but take the magazines home and share with their families!
Let's Find Out covers seasonal topics such as weather or holidays, science topics such as animals or our planet, social studies topics such as community workers or history, and social-emotional topics such as kindness or feelings/emotions. This is all done through reading, writing, math, art, dancing, talking, videos, vocabulary slides, STEM, and so much more. Let's Find Out magazines are a weekly part of our curriculum and routine and each and every year, my students look forward to their issues.
Due to budget cuts that my district is facing (along with so many other districts), they cannot purchase this curriculum, even though social studies are required to teach. I would prefer to use what little classroom budget we have to spend on classroom supplies such as crayons, glue, construction paper, pencils. I also spend a lot of my own money on my students and classroom. Please help fund this very important and very loved resource for my students--they deserve the world!
