My Project
When I was in third grade, my class raised caterpillars and watched them transform into butterflies. That experience left a lasting impression on me, and now I want to give my students that same sense of wonder. By witnessing metamorphosis firsthand, my students will not only learn about life cycles but also how living things adapt and grow. This experience will stay with them, just like it stayed with me, and will help them appreciate the beauty of nature for years to come.
This project will give my students with special needs a hands-on look at how animals change, adapt, and play a vital role in the ecosystem.
Students will observe both frogs and butterflies as they move through each stage of metamorphosis. Students will make predictions and compare them with what actually happens, deepening their understanding of insect and amphibian behavior. They will learn how these creatures survive and adapt in their environments and how climate change affects their life cycles. Throughout the process, I’ll be able to share my own third-grade memories and connect more closely with my students through shared discovery. They’ll be able to explore nature, experience science in action, and gain real-world knowledge about ecosystems and environmental change.
With your generosity, my students will not only witness the wonders of metamorphosis—they’ll also learn how to protect the world around them. They’ll understand the importance of even the smallest creatures in our ecosystem and feel empowered to make a difference.
Thank you for giving my students this opportunity. They will always remember the day they saw caterpillars turn into butterflies and tadpoles become frogs—right in their own classroom.
