This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Reading is the foundation of learning, and in my fourth-grade classroom, I strive to create a space where students develop a lifelong love for books. One of the most powerful ways to engage students in literacy is through reading aloud together. With your support, I can provide my students with classroom sets of books that we can experience as a group, strengthening their comprehension, vocabulary, and listening skills.

Why Read-Alouds Matter:

Listening to fluent reading models expression, pacing, and pronunciation, helping students become stronger, more confident readers. Read-alouds also:

• Expose students to new vocabulary and complex language structures.

• Build listening comprehension, which is essential for academic success.

• Foster a sense of community and shared learning as we discuss themes, characters, and big ideas together.

• Make reading exciting and engaging for all students, including those who struggle with independent reading.

What We Need:

I am requesting funding to purchase classroom sets of books that will allow my students to follow along as I read aloud. Having their own copy to hold will help them stay engaged, track words, and interact with the text in meaningful ways. These books will be used year after year, benefiting many future students!

My students are a special group. I have developed a close bond with them and I want to have this gift for them. After we have read the books we will be able to share the books with other classes!

The book Wonder is a great book to teach children empathy for others and how to show kindness.
