My Students

I teach in a Title I school where the majority of my students come from a low socioeconomic background. Every school year my students work so hard to fill gaps and get ready for state testing! We always spend the last month of school completing novel studies and projects to reward their hard work.

My students deserve the chance to fall in the love with reading!

For many of them, school is the only place they have access to the materials that will set the foundation for their futures.

My Project

Every school year, I spend the last month of school helping my students learn to love to read before they move on to the next grade level. They work so hard throughout the year learning standards, test taking skills, and many of them still are working hard just to learn how to read. The last month is reserved for just "loving" a good book and getting to know a spectacular author.

I want to give them the opportunity to have the "Wonder" of a great novel study, even though we are spending our last few months of school through distant learning.

With this project the students will have their very own copy of the book "Wonder" along with a shirt so we can create "Choose Kind" T-shirts. I do not want them to miss out on this amazing chance to love to read just because we cannot be together.
