Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I have two wonderful groups of 4th graders!! Each group has about 25 students, and I see one group in the morning and the other group in the afternoon, so I have about 50 students in my class daily who come and go -- you will read how cramped it gets!
My students keep me up to date with new innovative ways to make learning fun!
I make sure I keep them involved in their own learning process by taking their feedback and using it to make my classroom and teaching strategies better as each year passes. I want to make a difference in their lives so one day they will look back and see how I impacted their education.
My Project
It's cramped! I have 25 small desks in my classroom and students must share with a student from the afternoon. Each desk is shared by one morning student and one afternoon student. This leaves them with a tiny space to keep their textbooks and materials. Sometimes their texts get written in by the wrong student or their materials go missing and this is simply uncomfortable for everyone! Not to mention, sitting in a chair all day long can be exhausting. We want our kids to enjoy learning, not dread it!
We are requesting six wobble seats.
With our new flexible seating, we can get rid of our desks and use tables and I will place their materials in their personalized bin for them to store when they are not in my classroom! However, I may not be able to convert the whole classroom into flexible seating but I want to start with one center, using 6 wobbles chairs.
The students and I together, have chosen the flexible seating that would help us the most. We choose six wobble seats because it is a more affordable and we get similar benefits of a balance ball! These will be used at tables where students will use them all day as well as during math and reading stations. With your contribution, you can help my fifty students have a comfortable, fun, innovative way to learn!
