This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My art-loving students are working hard to create dynamic scenery for our school's first drama production! My students come from diverse backgrounds, including culturally diverse, economically diverse and academically diverse.

The students range from grades 5-8, many of whom are bilingual and receive free breakfast and lunch.

These students are looking for the chance to show their drive and dedication through the creation of an incredible set design. The goal of this project is not just to create a beautiful set, but to encourage students' creativity, community involvement and build their confidence.

My Project

This year our middle school students at Milton L. Olive Middle School in Wyandanch have the opportunity to perform "The Wiz!" Our students are truly enjoying being part of set design, drama, dance and video. This is the first production for our new after school arts program. Our hope is to make this performance incredible!

My goal is to have the students create outstanding scenery for our first drama production so I am requesting paint supplies!

We have been fortunate enough to acquire cardboard and wood, but we are looking to make it colorful and vibrant to match the whimsical style of "The Wiz!". The students are so excited to be part of this amazing project and they are looking forward to sharing their work with members of the community.
