This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I am trying to promote a love for reading in my classroom. Currently I said home reading bags with books that are outdated and falling apart. I still send them so the kids can have a grown up at home read to them.
This heartwarming and adventurous book will grasp the attention of my students and their families, and hopefully spark a love for reading!
I plan to assign chapters to read for each night. On the day expected chapters are to be read I am going to have the kids answer a questions and write down their answer. They will put their answer into a drawing and I will randomly pick a name with the correct answer. The person will be rewarded a prize!
My hope is that with a book like this, that is so exciting to follow along, the families will be nagged by my students to read to them. Knowing they can get a reward at school will also help.
Any donation will help bring this idea to life. But more importantly it will help bring to life quality time between families through reading.
