One of my favorite moments was during our first writing workshop of the week—students were so eager to open their new notebooks that the room fell silent as they began drafting their personal narratives. Several students even asked if they could keep writing during recess! Having quality materials has made them feel like \"real authors,\" and it shows in their effort and pride.\r\n\r\n\r\nThey were so excited! Students immediately began exploring the pens and pencils, testing out colors, and flipping through the clean pages of their notebooks. Many commented that having brand-new supplies made writing feel more special. You could see their motivation instantly increase just from holding materials that truly belonged to them.\r\n\r\nNext, students will continue using these materials as they draft, revise, and publish their narrative and opinion writing pieces. Their notebooks are becoming a place to collect ideas, practice skills, and track their writing growth. These simple tools are helping them build stamina, independence, and confidence as writers. One of my favorite moments so far was during a reading group when a student used the easel to model how she broke down a tricky word for her peers. The rest of the group followed along using the materials in their caddies, and you could see their confidence growing. These tools have made our small groups more organized, interactive, and engaging.\r\n\r\nThey were thrilled! Several students immediately gathered around the easel and asked if they could try writing on it. Others were excited to have their own set of supplies neatly organized and ready to use. It felt like our small-group area became a \"special learning spot,\" and the students couldn't wait to dive in.\r\n\r\nNext, students will be using the easel during guided reading and math groups to show their thinking, explain strategies, and collaborate with classmates. One of my favorite moments happened during our first week with the materials—students immediately organized their own kickball game and invited other classmates to join. The equipment has helped transform recess into a more inclusive and active experience for everyone.\r\n\r\nThe excitement was instant! As soon as I brought out the new balls, the kids started cheering and pointing out which games they wanted to play first. Several students said it felt like \"a brand-new playground.\" Their joy and enthusiasm filled the whole space, and it was clear right away how much these materials meant to them.\r\n\r\nNext, we're using recess as a way to build teamwork and problem-solving skills. Students are choosing different games to play each week and reflecting on how they worked together, communicated, and encouraged others. The donated soccer balls, cones, and goals have transformed our lessons into more engaging and structured activities. We've been focusing on teamwork, passing, and sportsmanship through fun drills and small-sided games. One of the favorite class moments was when students formed their own mini teams and practiced friendly matches, showing excitement and pride in using real soccer goals and new equipment.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the new materials, their faces lit up with pure joy. Many of them couldn't believe the equipment was really for them! They immediately wanted to test out the new soccer balls and couldn't stop talking about which team they wanted to be on. The bright colors and brand-new gear made them feel like real athletes.\r\n\r\nOur soccer genius hour and soccer team are ready for the season to continue to grow as athletes and as a team.
