Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I am currently teaching a group with some very high functioning, special education students who come from very diverse countries and cultures. They are showing interest in reading from books that come from different countries as well as discovering books from where they themselves come from. They hope that one day they will be able to pin each country on the map signaling a book they read from that country. I am hoping to continue to build a very diverse classroom library with quality books from all over the world for students to read and share with their peers.

What I admire the most in this group of students, is their determination to achieve more and make progress.

They are not deterred by challenges and difficulties. The collections of books I am requesting include fiction and nonfiction, short stories and poetry as well as novels. Current and future students will benefit from this library.
