My Project

In today's globalized society, fostering cross-cultural understanding and appreciation is essential for promoting empathy, collaboration, and effective communication. However, traditional language learning approaches often fail to engage students in meaningful interactions with diverse cultures, limiting their ability to navigate real-world multicultural contexts. As a result, there is a need for innovative educational strategies that integrate language learning with hands-on experiences to cultivate cultural competence and intercultural communication skills.

Students will be working creatively with textiles, working on a design plan with deadlines, group work, combining individual tasks into a group result, presentation skills, and language skills.

Benefits to the project:

1. Cultural Awareness: Students will gain a deeper understanding and appreciation of Inca, Mayan, and Aztec cultures and traditions.

2. Sewing Skills: Students will enhance their sewing skills through the creation of their quilt squares, learning various techniques and improving their craftsmanship.

3. Language Learning: The integration of Spanish language learning throughout the project will reinforce vocabulary, grammar, and cultural understanding.

4. Creativity and Collaboration: The project encourages creativity, artistic expression, and collaboration as students work together to create a cohesive cultural quilt.
