Welcome to our elementary media center! Over the last few years, we have found ways to completely transform our library. Our students love new technology and building, so we have created a Maker Faire space! The students visit our makerspace throughout the day to create, explore, and think! We are a STEM Media Center and always find ways to incorporate science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics.
The most exciting thing I see as a teacher is when I see my students working really hard to be innovative and problem-solve.
I love watching them think through situations to possible outcomes! Having a STEM makerspace media center allows me to challenge children in a fun way, every day!
My Project
I am requesting 5 sets of The Ultimate Fort Builder to use for STEM challenges in the Media Center. Often in the Media Center we will read an award winning illustrated book. After digging into the book we complete various STEM challenges. Sometimes the students are asked to build an item from the book. Other times they will use technology to complete a task. The key to the STEM challenges is to work collaboratively with other students from their class.
The Ultimate Fort Builder will take our STEM challenges to the next level!
Students will be able to build forts and large structures to go along with the books we read! This will really make the book meaningful and also create a lasting memory!
