My Project
As a teacher of Stagecraft (Technical Theater), my students have the awesome opportunity to learn how to read a script and use their imagination to design and build a set that would help the cast tell the story of the play. As a tech crew, my students are often forgotten. They literally wear black and work in the shadows of a performance, but their creative vision is what the audience actually sees. They are the quiet, hard working heros of the theater.
It's difficult to build sets and props without the right tools.
Year after year we borrow tools from our families and bring them to the school to for students to use to build the sets for our school productions. However, we often don't have enough tools for the students to all participate, or sometimes even the right tools for the job.
My goal is to build a tool kit for our Stagecraft program for all the students to be able to learn how to properly and safely operate the tools, so they can bring their visions to life for the cast and audience to enjoy.
