What lives in our world that we can't see. That is the question that many students ask. This project will purchase microscopes for students to use to view single cell organisms, cells and tissue samples. There will also be opportunities for students to make wet mount slides to see living organisms in our streams.
Students will learn about the magnification of lenses and the refraction of light when using microscopes.
This will encourages students to continue to learn more in STEM classes.
The purchase of microscopes for my classroom would allow students to study the different magnification of objective lenses, the refraction of light, and how to look at slides under a microscope. Students would use the microscopes to observe prepared slide and wet mount slides. Students would also use the microscopes to learn the parts of a microscope and how to care for the microscopes.
Seven microscopes would allow my students to work in groups of 3-4 students to study microorganisms.
They work in cooperative group and will make sketches of what they see. These students will be shocked to see the tiny world of microbes!
