I have wonderful group of fifth graders who are excited about learning. Every day they come to school excited about the knowledge they have gained and ready to learn more. I teach at at STEAM school where our focus is Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics. Our STEAM focus has been very good for engaging our students in their learning.
My students are very different.
Each student brings a different personality to my classroom. Their interest ranges from trending topics to more traditional topics. My students have a wide range of ability levels. Fortunately, we are in a school that supports all levels of learning and puts children first in everything we do.
My Project
By the time many students reach the fifth grade, they have developed a love for reading fictional text. The students love reading things that interests them. Nonfiction text is not always a popular choice with students.
The Time for Kids magazine subscription will allow students to find nonfiction texts more enjoyable for students.
The students will be able to read about real world events as well as fun, relatable topics. The wide range of topics in each magazine will provide some interests for all. The Time for Kids subscription will allow students to also apply the reading strategies they learn in class.
