This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
As a fifth grade teacher, I put in much effort in preparing them for the responsibility that middle school can bring. I push my students to be critical thinkers, be responsible for their actions, and to take value in their learning experience.
Our school is a writing based charter school in a diverse, urban community.
We strive for our students to be resilient, life-long learners who strive to further their knowledge. We practice the inquiry approach to learning where our students drive the instruction based on their curiosities and interests. My students are passionate about learning. I have never seen students so eager and excited to come to school each day.
My Project
These Time For Kids magazines will be used on a weekly basis. I want my students to read the various articles and be able to question and analyze these current issues that are relevant to their lives. We will use these magazines for a variety of tasks: writing prompts, comprehension, critical thinking, and most importantly to let the students enjoy reading about current events.
Your donations will improve my students' lives by making them aware of the world around them.
They will be exposed to new reading of different cultures and content. Not only will the magazine improve their reading and writing skills but it will spark their interest and creativity. Time For Kids will be a great introduction for them to be a knowledgable resource in their community.
