My Students

I'm not sure about other teachers, but I'm not ready to stop teaching tomorrow. My students need and deserve the best I can give them and therefore I need to look for ways to keep growing.
This is my third year teaching at my school.
I'm enjoying my kids, subject, and colleagues. I took some time away from the classroom after college and am missing some of the benefits of gaining practice straight out of the college experience. In my school, I have taught 6th, 7th, and 8th grade. I first taught math and now teach social studies. Both subjects have been enjoyable and have their struggles. I serve a diverse group of kids that come from different backgrounds. They provide a combination of frustration and joy throughout the week and at times simultaneously.
My Project
I am requesting a variety of books on professional development topics. Project based learning methods, classroom organization, and student centered teaching strategies will help me improve in my profession and help my students, this year and next, become college and career ready.
I have also requested an iPad mini to use specifically for my use. I attend professional training seminars each month and can use it to record notes, take pictures of insights in presentations, and experiment with apps for teaching.
Donations for this project will improve the opportunities my students have to grow through helping me become a better teacher.
I will focus on using these books and technology to sharpen my skills, increase my knowledge of teaching methods, and enhance my growth as a professional educator.
