My Students

My sixth graders and I are members of the wonderful community at a K-6 public elementary school. Most of the students in my class have been part of this community since they were in kindergarten.

This year, my students are full of energy and they love to learn through different modalities.

I want them to be able to have anything and everything that might help them experience success before they go to the giant, foreign land known as junior high.

My Project

Having access to technology in the classroom is a great way to give students choice in their learning. Furthermore, student choice fosters motivation and responsibility, which are keys for student success.

At our school we are fortunate enough to have access to iPads and Chromebooks, but we don't have headphones to go with these devices.

Ten pairs of headphones will help us work productively on engaging activities that meet the varying needs of our learners in all subject areas.

Many students, for example, like playing math games through a program that allows me to give them a differentiated experience. Unfortunately, right now they have to play these games with their device muted so they are not disturbing each other. Having headphones would give my students a chance to hear the sounds of their successes!
