The sway of Literature! our library can rock!

Help me give my students the gift of an in-classroom library corner with shelves for our books and the perfect teacher/student reading chair to encourage sitting down and getting lost in the "sway" of literature.

My Students

My students are an amazing bunch of little characters. They all contribute unique things about themselves to our class community that creates a special learning environment that we all share.

Friendship, respect, and eager to learn are a few things that are common themes amongst all my wonderful second graders.

BES opened in 2017 in the Herriman community near the beautiful Oquirrh mountains. Surrounding Bastian is a growing community of families.

At BES we encourage reading every single day. Reading with families, friends, and loved ones at home. At the beginning of the year as I get to know my students I see that all my little second graders are blossoming with curiosity into an exploratory world of literature.

I encourage my students every day to read and write and then to share with each other what they learn from literature. This is an important component of coming together as a class community and learning the importance of sharing knowledge and respect with each other.

My Project

The bookshelves that we use are falling over and I prop them up with other furniture, sturdy shelves will not only be a safer but nice way to display their books is going to entice them to go to the shelf and utilize all that is there for them.

I love to gather with my students on the rug and share literature and conversation with them.

A special chair encourages this and gets the children excited about coming together.

The students who earn the privilege of "swaying" into literature by sitting in the chair and reading to themselves or the class will get a feeling of confidence and will be inspired to want to earn the opportunity to sit there and share with others.
