At our school we believe all children have the ability to develop into leaders.
This year I will be directing the musical, Annie as our main stage production. Many of the cast are from homes where English is not their main language. Theater helps improve their speaking skills and builds their confidence.
For many of the cast, this is their introduction to the magical world of theater.
Much of the play takes place in an orphanage, so the cots can serve as beds for those scenes.
Our elementary school is a Title I school. Our theater program gives many children their first experience to the theater. I teach acting, movement and take the children in the theater program to see a Broadway play.
Our main stage play, this year will be the musical production of Annie.
For many children at our school, Annie will be their first experience seeing live theater.
The cots I am requesting will serve as beds for the orphanage scenes in the musical production of Annie.
Our theater program teaches the Meiser method of acting which believes that, "Acting is behaving truthfully in imaginary circumstances".
By having a realistic set, this will help the actors believe that they are in an actual orphanage.
