Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are smart, creative, hard working, and eager to learn! Most, but not all, are English learners in the classroom. The students live in a small town near fields where a lot of fruits and vegetables are grown. The school is huge, with more than 700 students. The students are tackling the new Common Core standards. They want to succeed in school! They are kind, safe, and responsible. The school, like most, is not able to pay for extra supplies.
My Project
My students are always hungry, and many come to school without eating breakfast for various reasons. Many do not even bring a healthy snack. Lunch here is at noon!
Your generous donation of any amount will help provide healthy food for my students, so they can concentrate on doing their best in all school activities.
I find that students who are not hungry and have eaten healthy foods tend to have better concentration inside the classroom. The new Common Core is a whole new way of learning. The food that I am asking for would be given on days that students are taking unit math tests, long writing tests, unit language tests, state tests, and if there is enough food available on days we have walking and bus field trips.
With my previous projects requesting food, the students have all been happy, and the food goes quickly. I try to spread the supplies through out the school year.
