My Project

My fourth graders are amazing humans! They are intelligent, curious, and eager to learn. I teach in an urban school with students from a wide range of backgrounds, but they have one HUGE thing in common - they LOVE to read! Whether it be graphic novels, nonfiction, or realistic fiction book series, my students are always excited when we share a new read aloud, add new books to our library, and explore books by unfamiliar authors.

Student ownership in a classroom is crucial for engagement, and one way to do this is to provide lots of high-quality texts that students want to read.

My students love to learn about history, and one series that I believe will rope them in is History Smashers. These books seek to explain common myths about well-known events like the sinking of the Titanic. Hilo books are a huge hit, as is the Click series of graphic novels, and this project will fill in the gaps in our library in both of these collections.

These books, and several others, are in high demand and will be devoured by my students. We can't wait to get our hands on these amazing books!
