This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are the best. There is nothing more exciting as a teacher than to see the growth of first grade students. At the beginning of the year they "read" a book and 20 seconds later exclaim they have finished reading the book, when in reality, they flipped through the pages. As the year progresses, students begin to really read and read incrementally more difficult books.

I currently have 24 students in the classroom from a variety of backgrounds.

I love the energy of my first grade students. They are happy to be in school and learning. I want to make sure I give all my students every opportunity to learn as much as they can during their first grade experience!

My Project

Headsprout is a leveled online reading program. Students begin by taking a placement test and will progress through the program at each individual student's own pace. The program meets each student at his or her current level.

There are engaging activities for all students from non-readers through seasoned readers.

Sine it is online, students are able to also access it from home when they are not in school.

First grade is a year where students' reading ability grows enormously. However, with students being in and out of school last year, the need for this program is immense!
