My Project

I am a theater arts teacher in the inner city. I am reaching out to you with great enthusiasm and a sincere desire to provide my talented students with an opportunity that could shape their lives positively for years to come. At our school, we are planning to stage "The Lion King" musical this spring, with grades 4-6.

I firmly believe that every child deserves the chance to experience the magic and joy of being on stage, and "The Lion King" offers a unique and transformative opportunity for them.

This endeavor is particularly significant for our students as many of them come from backgrounds where exposure to the arts is limited.

I am passionate about exposing my students to the arts because I understand the profound impact it can have on their lives. Art, in all its forms, is a powerful medium for self-expression and growth. It teaches invaluable life lessons, such as empathy, teamwork, and resilience. By engaging in a production like "The Lion King," my students not only learn about the performing arts, but also gain insights into culture, history, and the beauty of diversity.

I recently organized our first Winter Wonderland production, and it was a tremendous success. However, the financial challenges were substantial, and I found myself dipping into my own pockets to ensure that my students had the experience they deserved. In March we will embark on our Black History program. While it is a labor of love, it underscored the financial struggles we face on a daily basis.
