Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My students are from the inner city and don’t get to travel out of it all that often. They need exposure to the country they live in and all it has to offer. When learning is not just textbook led, my students learn better, participate more and take part in their educational learning. Social studies in my class is an experience. Throughout the year and with various topics, my students need more than just looking up sources on the internet and reading a school text book. They need to learn to use different resources for evidence and that’s what the text books on my list will be used for, as well as some resources they can create as their own. The TPT cards will be used to access resources for the colonial aspects of our history unit and make it more engaging for students to learn about how like became what it is today starting with the arrival of settlers. The posters will allow students to create the beginnings of biographies of themselves and learn about the different features of documents information to present. I’m looking to make social studies a lot more engaging and interactive and dare I say fun!
