Help me give my students people colored crayons, so that they can see how beautiful they are!

"I believe children are the future. Teach them well and let them lead the way." These are not only words from a popular song, but a strong belief that I hold as a teacher.
Equity for all!
My students are full of potential. They are bright shining beacons of light. I am asking for assistance so that they can glow like the stars that they are.
Fortunately, for the students in my class, envisioning the future is something we think of and talk about often. Because their daily existence is so challenging, I have them focus on their bright and delightful futures!
I teach in a low socio-economic area at a Title I school where ninety-nine percent of the population receives free breakfast and lunch at school. On most days, the hardiest and healthiest meals that the students receive are what they eat at school. It isn't unusual for the students in my class to stockpile food in their book bags to take home in order to have something to eat later that day.
Despite the harsh circumstances and backdrops of their lives, the students come to school daily with smiles on their faces.
I am blessed to work with students who are bright, curious and unique. As first graders we do a lot of "All About Me" and "Community" Projects. Unfortunately the students that I teach do not have crayons that reflect the beautiful diaspora of their culture.
They often have to color their self portraits pink or leave it blank because they do not have crayons that match their skin color, how sad is that!
This breaks my heart on a daily basis. Please help me fix this. These crayons come in just about all the colors that people do! Children can draw family, friends and famous people, and they can even make terrific self-portraits—whether they’re ebony, almond, chocolate, peach or somewhere in between.
