My Students
I teach a small group of 3rd-5th grade students with a variety of cognitive, physical, and speech impairments in my school's Specific Learning Supports Program. For each student, learning occurs differently and the needs of each student are never the same. But this is the beauty of the learning process in my classroom. To watch my students attack independent learning goals while developing social relationships with their peers, has been nothing short of amazing.
My students are currently in the space where they are enjoying distance learning but still missing the classroom experience.
Every week we found ourselves thinking about how things were simpler in the classroom. We're also becoming aware of the things that we need while at home.
My Project
We have just entered Term 2 of our virtual school year. We had plans to return to school last month but in order to fully be safe, our stay at home has been extended. Unfortunately, this means that we are beginning to run out of a few supplies that are needed to keep our learning going.
We're getting adjusted to distance learning, even though we miss each other daily.
Although we are all using our computers for learning, I find that I am still taking quite a bit of notes. A pack of legal pads are needed to jot down teaching ideas and student observations. It can also be used as a reference for quick writing! Let's not forget printing. We have a very sturdy computer that has been getting the job done with getting packets of information to students and parents. Now, we just need a bit more ink to see our distance learning journey through.
Once school resumes, we will need to save all of our information from distance learning. An external hard drive should help to get the job done! That way, when we are able to return safely, we can print our information and post them to our bulletin boards.
