My Students

Due to suddenly being confined to our homes, no matter how big or small, we all entered this time unprepared. My kiddos are home doing eLearning (Distance Learning) with little access to anything necessary for success. Many don't even have Internet service, much less adequate technology or supplies. My students were dismissed from school on an average, regular day and were never able to return. They left without their notebooks, pencils, glue sticks, and crayons from their desks. As a teacher, I am limited to kitchen table space and bags of odds and ends supplies on the kitchen floor. All of our personal and academic lives changed over night, without warning.

Tim Storey said it best when he stated, "Your life is about to be incredible."

My students are eager learners who truly want to do their work, want to learn, and want to share with their peers and the world. Their desire to do so much is the driving force for this project. I want to be prepared each day with the materials needed to teach them in the best way possible. They deserve that, in the very least - they deserve to have an incredible life!

My Project

Being at home, sitting in the midst of the kitchen all the while planning and working hard to instruct students at their homes comes with a multitude of challenges. Without a chalkboard, whiteboard, or Smartboard, you are left to pretend that the hotel notepad you found lying around and a wall of cabinets is now your classroom. It goes without saying... this is not ideal.

"Nurturing our kids' hearts and souls as well as their minds and their bodies is educating the whole child." (Maggie Dent)

It is with that quote in mind that I write this project. I believe that all children should have a teacher who wants to educate the whole child. I am one of those teachers. And, in order to do this successfully, I simply need a few supplies to bring the magic to life.
