Children from all over Baltimore City (the majority being from low-income families) have chosen to attend our neighborood elementary school. We learn through teamwork and hands-on, practical learning. As wonderful an opportunity this is, it comes with many challenges. The first and foremost being the lack of resources (books and materials). Being fairly small, our school does not have a library of books from which to borrow, a closet of resources to share, or the funding to purchase new and/or updated technological equipment. As teachers we have chosen to spend a lot of our own money to set up the classroom, provide supplies for the students, and purchase learning stations and classroom library books. We are sincerely in need of the basic essentials. Every little bit of support that others can offer is greatly appreciated.
