Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach at the tip of Texas, bordering Mexico, where my students speak Spanglish. They face many challenges such as dyslexia, special needs, and socioeconomic disadvantage, but that doesn't stop them from dreaming big.

They are determined, hard-working children, willing to learn no matter their circumstances.

I teach second-grade bilingual students who inspire me on a daily basis. These students come every day excited to start class. They enjoy hands-on activities, crafts, group activities, and especially working with technology. They face many challenges, but they don't let these challenges take over their learning experience.

Many come without knowing English, but with their determination and support from their families, they are able to conquer everything. Many students are economically disadvantaged. However, none of those factors affect these children because they want to learn. It is very satisfying seeing all these children progress throughout the school year.

I work at a very supportive school where students come first. We are all about meeting our children's needs. Our administrators have created a safe, happy environment for everyone at our school: students, staff, teachers, and parents. I love working at the very tip of Texas where my students are very unique and wonderful.

My Project

A little bit of my project is that due to COVID 19 my current school year as a teacher had a tremendous change. I am now utilizing more technology to create new lesson plans and activities for my students, so my students learning is not interrupted for this school year, and they can continue learning from their home. My students have been using different apps during the school year. Each student has an individual iPad and they have been exposed to different learning apps and they are using their iPad from home to continue learning. I am also maintaining my parents communication and involvement due to the technology and learning app that I am using.
