My Students

My students are some of the best and brightest. They are excited about learning. They have fun personalities and they really do like coming to school. My students really and truly are the best part of teaching.

My students are enthusiastic, inquisitive and really enjoy being challenged.

They love hands-on the activities, are willing to try anything, and love to experiment. They are very receptive to new ideas and work extremely hard, but always while having fun. They are learning all about STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) this year and are very excited about new activities coming our way.

My Project

We are having a great time in the STEM Studio with challenges and problem solving! We are mixing up Science, Math, and Engineering...but adding Technology is still a bit of a challenge. It's tough to find Technology activities that teach the skills, work well in a group setting, AND are appropriate for all age groups (K-4). Then, I had a great idea...let's try coding!

Coding activities, with the right equipment, keep students engaged and learning, and are fantastic for small groups!

The Ozobots, the Code & Go Mouse and Code-a-Pillar will be a great way to introduce coding skills and reinforce the Technology part of STEM activities.

The Ozobots will be a great tool for coding for 3rd and 4th grade. The Ozobots will give them a chance to set a courses with obstacles for the robots and really get an understanding of programming and coding with a tool that will engage them and encourage teamwork.

The Code & Go Mouse will be better suited to 2nd and 3rd grades. They will also have an opportunity to create mazes and paths for the mouse to navigate with an activity suited more to their level. The Code & Go Mouse will be easier for the younger children to operate.

The Code-a-pillar is perfect for introducing coding to kindergarten and 1st grade. This will give them a hands-on activity that is more like a game and give them the basic idea of what coding is all about. It has lights and sounds which make it easier for these students to understand and use.

These resources will be a great addition to the STEM Studio and perfect for introducing a new technology component.
