This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Funding for this project would allow me to acquire and develop a robust collection of professional development texts in the science of reading. For years teachers have been saying that the way in which students are taught to read was not working. Now there is a massive undertaking to shift the way students are taught to read. The science of reading that has been well-researched is now the big push. I am requesting these texts to ensure that I am knowledgeable in the way my students learn to read and the methods I can use to ensure I am reaching my students at their individual levels.
The goal of this project is to ensure that I am well-equipped to use the science of reading to teach my students how to read.
Great teachers never stop learning. As I learn from these materials and can share the books and resources with other teachers, I hope to reach ALL the students in our building and contribute to their success as learners and resilient and productive citizens.
