The Science of Learning

My students need science hands-on activities and pocket charts to use their curious minds for scientific investigation.

This project is fully funded

I am a third grade teacher at an urban school in Indiana. My school community is comprised of financially struggling families of all races, languages, and religions, and extremely hard-working teachers and staff. As a community we are trying to give all the students attending our school an opportunity for a better future.

So many of my students are struggling in the areas of math, writing and reading, that much of our day is focused on those learning areas. Due to their high needs in math and literacy, science often gets pushed to the side.

Creating an opportunity for my students to work independently on science activities and having prepared themes will allow me to expose my students to science. We plan on beginning our science learning by using these materials to teach students the process of science. We want them to learn how to ask questions and perform scientific tasks to answer their question. These resources also make science a visual learning experience because of the charts and manipulatives that the students will be able to use to learn about life cycles and other science concepts.

Your donation will take my students from learners to investigators and make science a part of their learning lives. Not only does your generosity help foster curiosity, but it broadens the scope of learning for dozens of students each year.
