This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students come from all over the world. We have a diverse student population from several countries around the world. The one thing these kids all have in common is that they come to our school and are learning English.
My students are eager to come to school and learn in a brand new language!
These students come in and are ready to learn every single day despite the trauma they experienced in their native countries. Their resilience and dedication to their learning are inspiring and these students deserve the best.
My Project
We are learning in a newcomer center designed to help students learn the academics, while also aquiring a new langauge. With the changing of the global space we are in now, we are starting to see more people immigrate to America, than we have in the last several years. This means our classes sizes are growing.
These headphones will allow my students to be working on individualized skills, while I am working with small groups in the classroom.
The students can be reading audio books, to working on math, or even learning and practicing new vocabulary. Our focus is on the whole child and these headphones will allow us to continue their learning during center time.
