My Students

Welcome to Mr. D's 4th grade classroom! Today in my classroom, we are going to make scholar stew. Yes! It takes a while to make, but the end results are amazing. First, you mix together the most brightest, dedicated, hardworking students with a cup of trouble. Next, add a gallon of growth, a sprinkle of silliness, and a pinch of tough love..........better make that two pinches. Start the stew on high then reduce to a low simmer for 180 days. Stir often!

Everyday I wake up to challenge my students to dream big and actualize their dreams by fostering their dedication, desire, and discipline for learning, and let me tell you, everyday they make sure they return that challenge to me.

In my class we never back down from a challenge. What can I say, we are a fearless bunch.

My students are a group of deep thinkers that enjoy questioning everything. Their desire to learn is only matched by their creativity and their higher level thinking. My students are immersed in a community stricken by poverty and crime. However, we refuse to let these circumstances distract them from realizing their true purpose in life.

My Project

In addition to the classroom observations and experiences with the Ron Clark's staff and students, I will also attend several workshops that include topics such as;

• Strategies for effective classroom discipline

• Integrating music into the classroom

• Increasing student engagement through higher order questioning

• Teaching creatively while achieving high standardized tests

• Implementing activities that promote student engagement

• Promoting academic rigor while meeting the needs of all learners

• Creating a climate and culture that promotes student success
