Help me give my students the items in my cart which are focused on basic everyday needs and creative, academic decoration for our room: hand sanitizer, bulletin board paper, batteries, tissues, etc.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students come from an impoverished area in an urban district. They have a lot of life and vibrancy. They love to move around with confidence. Dancing and laughing are two of their favorite things to do. My students are smart, independent, and precocious young people.
However, my school has the potential to be shut down within the next two years.
We have to turn around our school, for our students. I believe that things can change for my students... that school can be a place for them to grow and flourish into productive and positive citizens of society. Help us better the lives of young, capable individuals so they can, in turn, better our world.
My Project
To start, some of the materials I picked out will help my students with their everyday needs. The hand sanitizer will keep our hands clean so we don't spread around a lot of germs from all the tissues we use. The batteries will allow me to maintain my noise level lights. These lights are used to indicate what volume level the classroom needs to be at. This benefits my students because they are learning to respect classroom expectations and regulate their behavior.
Our classroom should reflect the vibrancy and life my students bring to a safe learning space.
The bulletin board paper and decorations will help my students' learning needs. I want to be able to provide enough stimuli to support their academic accommodations and to solidify the community in our classroom. Blank walls are boring. If a room is boring, it does not bode well for engaging students effectively and academically. With the materials I selected, I can keep my classroom organized, decorated, exciting, and educational.
