My Students
Our school has a long history embedded into the community we serve. Students are excited to attend school where many of their parents and even grandparents went before them. I have an exciting opportunity to start a STEAM Resource program for the first time! When you walk into my classroom you won't see students sitting in desks diligently taking notes, instead you'll see students brainstorming ideas, drawing images, building models, testing their solution, and more!
My students are spunky, inquisitive, and hardworking.
"I never knew school could be this fun!" a student shouted to a group member as they were working on a STEAM project. It is moments like these that push me to ensure that my students always have opportunities for hands-on, real-life learning experiences. It is wonderful donors, like yourself, that can help me to provide these experiences to our youngest learners!
My Project
It's so exciting to be teaching during a time when there are so many new opportunities to incorporate technology into the classroom. The hard part can be when you don't have that technology in your hands. Our students are becoming more technology savvy than teachers and that's not a bad thing because we're preparing them for jobs that don't currently exist! However, they still need to learn the basics in order to be successful. For many students, financial literacy is an area in which they struggle with. They don't understand how they are going to apply math in the real world. Well have no fear - that's where Osmos come into play!
Osmos foster a learning of financial literacy by growing students' understanding of mental math, spatial reasoning, and problem solving skills, while also building their confidence.
Building a foundation for financial literacy at an early age is crucial for our students to not feel left behind as the math curriculum becomes more difficult as they get older. The Osmo Genius Kits will allow our students hands-on learning opportunities in STEAM education as they hone in on their addition, subtraction, fraction skills, and much more!
