This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I have a classroom of 18 hard-working students.
They are mostly English language learners, some have special needs, and all qualify for free lunch.
The students come to school excited for learning, and deserve to get their hands on anything that will help further their learning. Many of these students go to homes where supplies are limited and no updated technology.
Beyond these odds, my students are willing to work hard to increase their academic achievement and are wonderful young human beings. These students are excited and eager to begin their new learning in 3rd grade.
Basic classroom materials such as a long-lasting pencils and a pencil sharpener can provide consistency with completing learning tasks. Also, durable headphones are all basic supplies used daily in class to help students stay focused on the audio by blocking out distractions and therefore enable them to concentrate and retain information better. In 3rd grade students are required to take state tests and therefore begin to prepare on Day 1. They will constantly use the writing process to develop multi-paragraph texts, solve math problems with explanations for their thinking, and integrate technology in their learning, etc. Unfortunately, many students’ families cannot afford to continually buy supplies for their children so the school would be the only source. We need these materials to help us learn! We often run out of these basic materials in the middle of the year because of all the learning and projects we do. My students are hard workers and deserve these basic classroom supplies. Please help our students continue to learn by donating these basic school supplies to our classroom!
