This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Were you able to start High school or college with advanced credits? My students have an opportunity to be accelerated in their school work which could potentially open more doors later. However, they need to take their Integrated Algebra regents with graphing calculators that they cannot afford! My students need 10 calculators.

My students are hard working, bright students who have earned the amazing opportunity of taking Accelerated math in the 8th grade!

For minority students in an inner city school in New York, they are most certainly set apart from their peers. They are very eager and excited to take advantage of this opportunity, but without the proper resources are in jeopardy of yielding mediocre results. I know that my students can do it so long as they have the appropriate resources necessary!

My Project

With the graphing calculators they will be able to learn proper calculator skills in order to be prepared for the Integrated Algebra regents. It will also improve their math and test taking skills for future courses to come. By providing them with a graphing calculator it will alleviate their concern over being unprepared since they are not able to afford one themselves. They will be able to show their understanding of the content and use the calculator to supplement their math skills. The calculators can aid in their success on this exam which can open up doors to careers in mathematics in their future.

By fulfilling this request, my students will know that others believe in their success.

By being familiar with appropriate content technology they will be entering the high school field with necessary skills for future courses. They will also become familiar with protocols for handling high tech equipment and practice responsible skills that will benefit them on various areas.
