Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Project

I coach a middle school soccer team and in my county, this is really the second year that the students have returned from the Covid 19 closures. With the closures many areas of school sports at the middle school level were underfunded and at times abandoned. Image being a young student athlete that was forced to withdraw from many team sports for health risks and concerns, only to return to school sports and find that the available equipment is hazardous and a total hindrance to your health and sport development. Not enough jerseys in a proper size. two pair of goalie gloves to be shared amongst the boys and girls team and on pair with fingers of the glove missing. The available equipment to prepare you for the season was simply a mess bag full of soccer balls. No jersey's, not flags, not instruction and education based equipment. For all the anticipation that built over the news of the return to sports, you find that you school does not have the equipment to aide you in your student athlete development as the northern schools provide. How can you compete?
