My Students
In our elementary school, our second graders are vibrant and eager learners. There are approximately 30 students in grade 2. Our students have a willingness to learn, but need the resources to be successful. Parents, students, and staff work cohesively to promote a love for learning and hard work.
We are a community of learners in which all children are encouraged to achieve high academic standards.
Our school promotes reading to celebrate diversity and social success. Students are motivated to become life long achievers and make an impact in their community.
My Project
Our students need to be exposed to more fictional material. This will help our second graders with their narrative writing and story telling.
As a school, we are trying to promote curiosity and social acceptance in our classrooms.
The idea for this project came about after my students huddled together during recess to discuss what we were reading about in "Charlotte's Web." They could not contain their excitement as they spoke about what they learned about the characters and what they thought was going to happen next. We want our students to be excited about what they are reading and engage their peers in "The Reading Train."
After the success of 'The Reading Train,' I decided to continue this project by adding more books to our library. Thank you for all those who have supported and will help raise awareness.
