This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach at a low-income, high-poverty area in Florida. It is a Title I school, meaning more than 95% of the student body comes from a low socioeconomic background. The students receive free or reduced lunch and often are recent immigrants from other countries. I am currently a fifth grade ELA teacher. The students at my school are inquisitive, creative, and compassionate. They come to school each day ready to try new things and grow both academically and personally. The method and environment in which they learn best vary greatly. We do our very best to incorporate a variety of different learning strategies and learning options to ensure that each of the student's needs are being met.

My Project

My classroom would benefit if we would be able to get three tablets along with keyboard adapters and wireless mouse. By having tablets in the classroom, I will be able to provide my students with exciting, engaging, and fun activities. The tablets will provide students with so many opportunities. Some students will be using their time on the tablet to read books (which I will be downloading), doing iReady and using the key board to make their writing come to life. There are many programs and apps available on the tablet that are beneficial to my students. By using these programs, my students will be able learn at their own pace.
