This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
As a new head varsity basketball coach in the inner city, it is exciting to be able to lead young men that you have watched mature over the last three years. A number of my players come from the community in which the school is located.
The students have learned that they aren't the bad elements of their community, but the model that the younger students emulate.
Our team is a model of diversity.
Each of my player have very distinct personalities, and have very distinct needs. As a coach, you take on a number of roles from young men who are looking to be a part of something special.
My Project
By receiving the iPad, we as a coaching staff will be able to tape practice and games, and have film sessions to improve our students play.
Sometimes players need to be able to visualize their play outside of games and practice and by getting an iPad it will allow us to show the kids where they have done well, and where improvement is needed.
For a handful of our players, they have the opportunity to play on different levels of basketball after high school. By recording the games, they can edit their highlight reels so that they are readily available to be reviewed by prospective colleges.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
